Amateur Radio
Amateur radio has been another extension of my interest in science, electronics, and experimentation. My interests go well beyond simply talking on the radio and include antenna design, satellite communications, RF electronics, digital modes, and radio astronomy.
I enjoy designing and building my own antennas and experimenting across VHF, UHF, and microwave frequencies, including projects aimed at communicating through amateur satellites and the ISS. I’ve also explored using directional antennas and large dish systems for receiving natural radio emissions and experimenting with hydrogen-line and other radio astronomy observations.
For me, ham radio is less about collecting contacts and more about understanding what is actually happening between the transmitter and receiver, then seeing how far I can push it with something I built myself.
